What better way to spend time with your family and staying active than hitting the playground? Certified personal trainer Sheila Dunn created a circuit of kid-friendly, playground workouts that will get everyone active and make you forget about the “work” in workout!
Hanging Crunches Put those monkey bars to work in the ultimate playground workout! Grab ahold of a bar or set of rings and lift your knees into your chest as close as you can. Slowly lower your legs, and repeat 5 times to begin with then work up to three sets of 10.
Swing Set Cross Kicks Hop on a swing and hold on! Lift your legs so they’re parallel to the ground, cross one leg over then other then switch while maintaining your balance. Start with a kid friendly 10 to 15 reps, and work your way up to three sets of 10-15.
Slide Climbers This playground workout is so fun, the kiddos might not even realize it’s a workout at all! After you make sure you have the slide all to yourself, hold on to the sides of the slide and run to the top as quickly as you can before you slide down again. Repeat 5-10 times.
Park Bench Dips Sit on a park bench with your legs slightly forward, feet flat on the ground and knees bent. Keeping your shoulders back, scoot forward and lower your bottom until your elbows are at 90 degrees. Hold for about three seconds and lift back up. Repeat 10 times, and work up to three sets of 10.
