The Austin Trail of Lights is one of the biggest and best showcases of Christmas lights in all of Texas and one of the three biggest events in Austin! Held annually at Zilker Park, this Austin Texas event featuring nearly two million lights receives national accolades and has quickly become must-see for anyone living in Austin or the surrounding region.
The Austin Trail of Lights is great way to kick off the Christmas season and now offers other fun events for friends and family.
What started in 1965 as “Yule Fest” as a gift to the city of Austin from Austin Parks and Recreations Department has grown to be a community-wide celebration of the unique spirit and people that make Austin the place we love to call home.
Here’s the full schedule of events:
Friday, December 4
An exclusive first look at the Trail of Lights, this is a unique experience in an intimate setting with samplings from Austin’s best chefs and restaurants. There will be a trunk show showcasing local artists and designers, and of course in true Austin fashion, live music! You can get your tickets here.
Saturday, December 5
If you’re a runner (or a walker) who loves Christmas, this is the Austin Texas event for you! This 2.1 mile run begins at the Zilker Tree and ends within the Trail of Lights. Santas, elves, crazy socks, lighted tunnels and displays all leading up to the Finish Line Festival! There will be awards, photobooths, and much more!
These events both lead up to the Austin Trail of Lights itself which will be held December 8-22, 2015 from 7:00-10:00 PM each day.
Caliterra, our beautiful master planned community in Dripping Springs, is located just 20 miles from the vibrant city of Austin. It has a small town feel with a big city just down the road.
Be sure to catch the lights this December!
