Meet the Olympians from Texas

Only the best athletes make it to the Olympics, and there’s certainly no shortage of amazing athletes in Texas. Team USA is taking over 550 different athletes to the 2016 Rio summer Olympic Games, 33 of which are from Texas. Today, the master-planned community of Caliterra near Austin, TX is going to tell you about a few of the Olympians from Texas.

Mackenzie Brown

Born and raised in Flint, Texas, Mackenzie Brown will be competing in archery. At 21 years old, Rio will be her first Olympic Games.

Brittney Griner

Making a name for herself playing basketball for Baylor University, 25-year-old Brittney Griner is from Houston, Texas. This year will also be her first time competing in the Olympics.

Clark Montgomery

Clark Montgomery with the Todd Sandler Challenge Perpetual Trophy at the Bromont Three Day Event in Bromont, Quebec, Canada.

Making his Olympic debut, Clark Montgomery from Mineral Wells, Texas is participating in the equestrian sport in both individual and team eventing. At 35 years old, he is one of the older athletes from Texas.

Simone Biles

Specializing in artistic gymnastics, 19-year-old Simone Biles from Spring, Texas will make her first Olympic appearance in Rio.

Keith Sanderson

At 41 years old, Keith Sanderson will be participating in his third Olympics. He’s from San Antonio, Texas and will be competing in the 25m rapid fire pistol shooting.

Jimmy Feigen

Also from San Antonio, Texas, 26-year-old Jimmy Feigen will be competing in the 4x100m freestyle swimming event. Rio will be his second Olympic Games.

Steven Lopez

Steven Lopez from Sugar Land, Texas will be going to Rio to compete in his fifth Olympic Games. At 37 years old, he will be competing on the Taekwondo team.

Kerron Clement

Participating in his third Olympics, Kerron Clement is from LaPorte, Texas. The 30-year-old track and field athlete will be competing in the 400m hurdles.
